Villanueva et al.: Lo que Borges le enseñó a Cervantes

Darío Villanueva, former member of the ICLA theory committee, has written, with César Domínguez and Haun Saussy, Lo que Borges le enseñó a Cervantes: Una introducción a la literatura comparada. The book, translated by David Mejía and published by Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, is the Spanish-language edition of Introducing Comparative Literature: New Trends and Applications (Routledge, 2015).

Proceedings of the Pécs workshop

The proceedings of the 2015 workshop of the ICLA Research Committee on Literary Theory, which was held at the University of Pécs under the title “The Realities of Fiction—Fictions of Reality,” have been published in the December 2016 issue of Neohelicon. Edited by Yvonne H. Howell and Françoise Lavocat, the proceedings include articles by Jernej Habjan, Péter Hajdu, Sándor Hites, Françoise Lavocat, Kyohei Norimatsu, Sowon S. Park, Monika Schmitz-Emans, and Richard Walsh.

Opening: Assist. Prof. of World Lit and Global Film at AUB

The Department of English at the American University of Beirut is seeking to fill a faculty position in world literature and global film and visual culture to begin August 15, 2017. The position is at the assistant professor level. The appointment is for an initial period of four years with opportunities for renewal and advancement. The usual teaching load is not more than 5 courses a year. Applicants must have completed their PhD by August 2017. The language of instruction is English. In memoriam Mihály Szegedy-Maszák

Mihály Szegedy-Maszák, Regular Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Professor of Central Eurasian Studies and Comparative Literature at Indiana University Bloomington, and a long-standing functionary of the ICLA, passed away on 24 July 2016 after a brief illness. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family. Mihály will be greatly missed.
